Video Ethnography
Pinny studied Archaeology and Anthropology at Hertford College, Oxford University. Over the last 15 years she has become a leading expert in the use of video for ethnographic research. She has experience in a variety of in-depth ethnographic research projects for both the commercial and social research sectors. Major clients have included Ipsos Mori Ethnography and Policy Lab at the Cabinet Office in London.
Social research projects have included The Windrush White Paper, Refugee Integration, Tackling Homelessness and Disability Access, all for government. Other studies include UNICEF Childhood Wellbeing, Money Advice Service, and The Royal Foundation Early Years Study.
As foremost expert in this field she has delivered lectures and workshops at universities across the UK. She has been an Associate Lecturer in ethnographic and documentary filmmaking in the department of Anthropology, University College London.
